Human rights activist at age 11, the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize at 17, shot in the head by terrorists at age 15, UN Messenger of Peace and founder of an organization for girls’ education by age 18. Malala Yousafzai shares her powerful story and inspires us to change the world. In her first novel, Malala Yousafzai tells her story alongside the story of the conflict that has led her to become a champion for girls' education worldwide. Currently, Malala is on her #GirlPowerTrip to help girls around the world have access to education.

While I have seen this book criticized for its portions about the political side of the conflict being to information-heavy, I believe it was portrayed in a way that was easy to understand and its inclusion was necessary for the reader to have historical context.
