This book follows the journey of a refugee from a Palestinian family as he navigates the obstacles that are placed before him as a stateless person. The heavily controversial Israeli-Palestinian conflict has continued for over 50 years now, and this story helps us understand the issue from an important and simple-to-follow perspective. By reading this book, we are reminded that this conflict has impacted real people who led normal lives in prosperous communities, but are now spending their last days in refugee camps watching their grandchildren struggle for a future. We can all learn something from Saeed, the main character’s father, who taught his son that love transcends all religions, differences, and conflict.

Each chapter began with a poem by Mahmoud Darwish, an award winning Palestinian poet, who captured the Palestinian experience in his words.
